Every year, Girard ushers in the Christmas season with our beloved Winter Wonderland Festival & Parade, held on the first Thursday of December. This cherished community tradition transforms the heart of Girard into a festive celebration filled with holiday magic, twinkling lights, and joyful spirit.

This year, the evening features a dazzling Christmas Parade, a car show, and local vendors around the square and Civic Center — offering unique gifts, crafts, and treats perfect for the season. Stop by Eastside Café, where Santa will be visiting with children, and enjoy free cookies and hot chocolate while soaking in the warmth and wonder of the holidays.

Little Mr. & Miss Merry Christmas

Girard is excited to invite all Kindergarten through 5th grade students in the USD 248 School District to participate in the Little Miss & Mr. Merry Christmas Contest, presented by Girard Events and the Girard Chamber of Commerce! This festive contest celebrates children who love the spirit of Christmas and giving back. Each participant raises funds for a charity of their choice, and the children who raise the most will be crowned Little Miss & Mr. Merry Christmas. Winners will also have the special honor of riding in the Girard Christmas Parade on Thursday, December 4, 2025, spreading holiday cheer throughout the community. Registration is open until Friday, November 14, 2025, with fundraising continuing through Monday, December 1. Don’t miss this chance for your child to shine, make a difference, and be part of Girard’s magical holiday celebration!

Christmas Parade

The Girard Christmas Parade is the highlight of our Winter Wonderland Festival, bringing the community together in celebration of the holiday season! Held on the first Thursday of December, the parade features festive floats, marching bands, local organizations, and, of course, Santa Claus himself. This beloved tradition fills the streets of Girard with holiday spirit, lights, music, and cheer, creating a magical experience for families and visitors of all ages. Christmas Car Show

Rev up your holiday spirit at the Girard Christmas Car Show, a festive part of our Winter Wonderland Festival! This event brings together car enthusiasts of all ages to showcase classic cars, custom rides, and holiday-themed vehicles in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. Held in conjunction with the Christmas Parade and festival activities, the car show is a perfect way to enjoy the sights, sounds, and excitement of the season while celebrating the community’s love for automobiles. Whether you’re a participant or a spectator, the Christmas Car Show is sure to add extra sparkle to your holiday festivities!

The Mistletoe Marketplace

Step into the Mistletoe Marketplace during Girard’s Winter Wonderland Festival and experience the perfect holiday shopping destination! Held at the Civic Center and around Historic Girard Square, the marketplace features a variety of local vendors offering unique gifts, crafts, holiday décor, and festive treats. It’s a wonderful way to support local businesses while finding one-of-a-kind treasures for your friends and family.
